Privacy notice

Plainly is designed so that using a calculator does not require you to give us personal information.

Calculator information

Figures entered directly into the public calculators and standard commercial embed are calculated in your browser and are not sent to Plainly. A scenario link generated by Plainly contains the values after the URL's # symbol, which browsers do not send as part of the normal page request. Anyone you share that link with can still read those values.

Saved details and presets

Plainly saves reusable details or named calculator presets only after you choose a save action. The information is stored in this browser's local storage and is not sent to Plainly. It may be visible to anyone else who uses the same browser profile. You can review, change or remove everything from Your details.

If you separately turn on Resume unfinished calculators, Plainly automatically keeps the latest in-progress values for each calculator on this browser for up to 30 days. This is off by default, and turning it off removes those recent drafts.

Saved details are used only to prefill relevant public calculators. They are not used for advertising, behavioural profiling or automated marketing, and standard customer embeds do not read the public Plainly profile. Clearing browser storage also removes the saved data.

You can download a local JSON backup and restore it in another browser. Plainly does not receive that file. The backup is not encrypted and can contain all saved profile sections, presets and recent drafts, so anyone with the file may be able to read those values.

Website delivery information

Vercel hosts this website and may process technical request information such as IP address, browser, requested page and timestamp to deliver and protect the service. Plainly does not currently use advertising cookies, behavioural tracking or third-party marketing analytics.

Commercial embed events

The embed can tell the customer website that an anonymous interaction occurred, such as opening advanced settings or displaying a comparison. These browser events contain the event name, calculator version and client identifier only. They do not contain entered salary or payroll values. The customer controls whether it records those events and must explain its own processing in its privacy notice.

Enquiries

The contact form opens your email application; it does not submit information to this website. If you email Plainly, the message and contact details are used to answer the enquiry, manage a potential or existing contract and meet legal obligations. Commercial correspondence is normally retained for up to six years after the relationship ends; enquiries that do not progress are normally deleted within twelve months.

Business outreach

Plainly may use limited business information from an organisation's own website, a professional profile or information supplied directly to identify and contact relevant corporate product, partnership or commercial roles. This can include a person's name, business role, business contact details, the source, contact dates, response status and agreed next action. It does not include calculator values or personal financial circumstances.

For relevant corporate outreach, Plainly normally relies on legitimate interests in researching and developing its business-to-business service after considering purpose, necessity and the contact's reasonable expectations. Consent is used where electronic-marketing law requires it. Every outreach message identifies Plainly, links this notice and offers a simple way to object.

Unqualified prospect details are reviewed against the stated business purpose and are normally removed within twelve months of the last relevant interaction. Objections are retained in a minimal suppression record so Plainly does not contact the person or organisation again. You can object at any time by replying to the message or emailingmatthew@plainlyfinance.co.uk.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your personal information. Contactmatthew@plainlyfinance.co.uk. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

This notice is updated when the product, suppliers or data flows materially change.
